Tuesday the voters in Marshall County approved LOSST, Local Option Sales and Service Tax, which means the money collected through the 1% sales tax stays in Marshall County budgets. Supervisor for Marshall County, Jarrett Heil, talks about what that means for the budget process.
LOSST passed with overwhelming support, nearly 97% of the votes, 609 of the 628 ballots cast.
Heil shares that leading up to this election they had already completed a lot of their budget meetings with department heads. The compensation board has met and given their recommendation.
He says that there can be a few changes between now and the final proposal at the end of the month. This year’s budget was a challenge with the unknown of LOSST.
The Marshall County Budget needs to be finalize and submitted to the state by April 30th.
