Tuesday night the City of Marshalltown held a panel called, “Surviving Streetscape” talking about the upcoming road project in Center St. and Main St. in downtown Marshalltown. The panel had individuals who had dealt with a main street reconstruction project and there was one common message.

That is Marshalltown Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO, John Hall. He says it will be everyone’s responsibility to continue to patronize the different businesses while the Downtown StreetScape Project is happening

Sidewalks are expected to be ripped up to add new water lines and update any utility connections. Those disruptions should last 24-48 hours.

Hall says people may also find new places to park while there are less spots throughout the project. The Center St. portion of the project is set to start on April 7th.
