The Open Burn Ordinance in Marshalltown ended on July 1st. People are still able to have recreation fires in their yard over the summer, but you can no longer burn any brush. Marshalltown Interim Fire Chief, Christopher Cross, explains when the next open burn period is, and what you can burn.
Recreational fires are still allowed but people need to use proper firewood. You cannot burn brush and other yard waste in your recreational fire.
Chief Cross says people can find and read the full ordinance online at the City of Marshalltown website, Marshalltown-ia.gov. You will need to navigate to the Fire Department tab.
