Slowly but surely the State Street project is finishing up and parts of the road and intersections are opening up. Last week another intersection was opened up, State Street and 1st Street. This project has been much more than a resurfacing project, they have replaced the water mains and other infrastructure while under the roads. Heather Thomas explains that they got lucky digging under State Street as they did not find any remanence of the trolley.
For any updates going on with construction, Thomas says a great place to go online is Marshalltown-ia.gov. People can get alerts sent to their phone or email.
The goal is to have State Street finished up by October 11th, pending any major weather events.
