Announced yesterday on the City of Marshalltown Facebook page, 1 of the speed cameras have been approved by the Iowa DOT. The law changed around speed cameras in the last legislative session, and the new rules took affect July 1st. Marshalltown had to reapply for the speed cameras both stationary and mobile units.
Of the 3 units, 1 camera was approved, the camera on Lincoln way monitoring Eastbound traffic. The Governors Rd. camera and the mobile camera were both denied by the Iowa Department of Transportation.
