The City of Marshalltown interviewed 5 candidates for the Chief of Police position and it was an internal candidate that stood out most.  Captain Chris Jones has accepted the recommendation to become the next Chief of Police for the City of Marshalltown.  Mike Ladehoff, Marshalltown City Councilor, said in a message, “Jones has worked very hard to get everything he needed for this moment.”

Jones has been a Captain with the Marshalltown Police Department since 2012, and he has worked in the Department since 1996.  Jones follows Chief Michael Tupper who has been the Police Chief in Marshalltown since 2011.  Chief Tupper announced he will be retiring at the end of January.  The City Council will vote to accept the recommendation at Monday’s City Council meeting.
