Last night at the Marshalltown City Council meeting, was the 2nd reading of a new ordinance that discusses chapter 72 of the parking rules. This chapter talks about having something to park an RV, boat, trailer on if it is parked in your backyard. At the first reading, City Councilor Mike Ladehoff suggested adding gravel as an approved material. This was discussed again last night
Ladehoff gained some support from the last meeting as City Councilor Melisa Fonseca spoke up.
Fonseca then made a motion to have gravel added as an approved material. The concern some of the Councilors have been with maintenance over gravel.
That is City Councilor Mark Mitchell. The amendment to add gravel to the approved material list passed with a 4 to 3 vote. The reading of the ordinance then passed as well, with a 4 to 3 vote. Kell, Schneider, and Mitchell voted against both.
