The Bobcat girls basketball team was alone in the spotlight last night hosting Grinnell as the boys had the night off. It was a slow start for the Cats who trailed 18-9 to close the first quarter. Some hot three-point shooting from Jorja Janssen got the Bobcats their first lead into the third quarter 31-30 following a 6-0 run. From there it was a battle of attrition as fouls and turnovers paved the way for both teams. In the end it was the Tigers’ press defense that reigned supreme as Marshalltown fell by a final of 44-39. The Cats have a quick turnaround as the boys will join them in a trip to Ft. Dodge tomorrow (Tuesday) night.
