Friday, the new space for the Arts and Culture Alliance was packed shoulder to shoulder for the 2 hour Grand Gathering. Executive Director, Amber Danielson, gave a speech early in the night talking about what is next and all the possibilities this space brings.
Danielson says there were 39 different artists displaying their work on Friday. While the displays were visual art, she says they want to expand beyond that with their new space.
One of the artist on display was Kim Hanken, from Marshalltown, talks about the new space for artist in downtown Marshalltown. She has had her art displayed in the Ray Fredrick Gallery on MCC’s Campus and in The MACC.
Hanken was previously an art teacher, but loves sharing art with new people. She hopes this new space continues to expose people to the arts.
Danielson is excited for the new space to get utilized in a variety of ways moving forward. She wants to always have something on display for people as they stroll down main street.
