There is less than 1 week before the LOST special election for Marshall County voters. The 1% LOST sales tax will be collected no matter how the vote pans out, the vote is over keeping that money in Marshall County budgets or send it to the state for redistribution. The voters turned this down in November, which has caused the county to come up with a contingency plan if the special election is also turned down.

50% of LOST, with the County, goes to property tax relief and the other 50% towards roads and bridges. Heil says LOST accounts for about 11% of the County budget, or roughly $1.7 million

Heil praises the departments for finding places to cut in their budgets incase LOST does not pass. He also mentions an increase in insurance cost, something that needs to be paid no matter what.

Early Absentee Voting is happening at the Election Center this week. Feel free to stop by the Auditor Recorders office if you have any questions about this election.
