The Marshall County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday heard an update from Liason Man Kenn Vinson of Alliant Energy. The Marshalltown Generating Station began operations on April 1st and Vinson says the have been operating virtually everyday since. He says a Nature Walk is being created on the grounds outside of the MGS facility that people will be able to use. He also says that the traffic light on South 18th Avenue near the entrance to the MGS station will be up and operating a while longer. Vinson also says the nearby Sutherland Station will be take out of service and eventually demolished. The company is planning a ribbon cutting event on Monday May 15th at 1:30 which will be by invitation only.
