A permit for a new hog confinement operation in Marshall County was up for approval before the Board of Supervisors yesterday. The operation in Logan Township would have an indoor capacity of five thousand head divided between 2 new deep pits. The owner of Buzz Bee Meadery, two miles south of the site, Wayne Spohnheimer voiced objections over possible odor concerns, as the attraction is working on an outdoor entertainment venue.
Another neighboring hog farmer, Dean Damman, said the latest improvements in hog confinements should help keep the odor issue down.
The Board of Supervisors, satisfied that any issues affecting Buzzed Bee Meadery would be minimal, approved the operation for LTA Farms, LLC.
