Rain washed out the final round of the Principal Charity Classic in Des Moines and Tom Lehman was declared the winner after shooting a two day record of 13 under par. It was his first victory at a tournament he feels a special connection with; Lehman’s mother was born in Des Moines and that is not his only connection to the state of Iowa.
Lehman’s record 36-hole score of 131 (66-65), 13 under par for two laps around Wakonda, was good for a two-shot victory over Bernhard Langer, Scott Parel, Glen Day and Woody Austin. Langer was in the hunt for a 38th PGA TOUR Champions title.
