The group raising funds for the Marshalltown Fireworks event at the Fairgrounds for the 4th of July, received a little extra boost from the Marshalltown City Council.

A resolution before the Council called for the City to donate three thousand dollars to support the effort. However, City Councilor Leon Lamer proposed amending that amount to five thousand dollars.

Lamer’s amendment to the resolution was passed unanimously.

In other Council news, Police Chief Mike Tupper presented his annual report, which continues to show a trend of low violent crime in the community.
