Marshalltown’s House of Compassion is halfway to its new roof. A fundraising campaign is enabling the supply and food kitchen to pay for a new metal roof, which is half way completed, with the othr half waiting on some dry weather.
Executive Director Karen Frohwein says a memorial gift from the estate of Ron Patten really helped out.
Frohwein says the new roof has been a long time coming and should help the HOC continue to serve folks for quite some time to come. She also says work on being able to again over overnight shelter for the homeless is continuing.
