Will Marshalltown soon again a single hospital location in the community?

With yesterdays announced closing of the obstetrics and women’s health care center at Unity Point Health-Marshalltown, many people in the community are wondering what will happen next when it comes to the hospital. President of Unity Point Health Marshalltown Jenni Friedly says this latest closing was tough, they pushed back on the consultants’ recommendation, but the big picture did come into a little better focus. Friedly says as management looked at what the community was utilizing services for, the plan will be to consolidate all medical services at the Medical Park on the community’s south side.

Friedly says the Unity Point Health system still needs to do some work as far as a timeline for that move out to the southside medical park, but its felt that move would be one that is sustainable for at least 5 to 10 years for a hospital that has been struggling financially for a few years.
