Open casting calls for actors and extras are being held in Des Moines this weekend and in Iowa Falls next weekend for a film to be shot in Iowa about the state’s final season of girls’ six-on-six basketball. The screenplay’s author, Jack Smith, moved to New Providence in 1993 to run a business and quickly became a student of the unique game. The movie will be set in 1993, the final year for six-on-six hoops in Iowa.

The casting call is this afternoon at the Des Moines Playhouse in Des Moines from 1 to 3 PM and next Saturday in Iowa Falls at the Iowa Falls Chamber of Commerce, also from 1 to 3.
