Marshall and Tama Counties were among about two dozen counties which saw decreases in unemployment in August, compared to a year ago.

Marshall County’s rate dipped over two percentage points to 3.4 percent. Of course, last August, Marshalltown was in the throes of the post-tornado recovery. Tama County saw it’s unemployment rate drop eight-tenths of a point to 2.4.

Also in Central Iowa, Grundy and Poweshiek Counties say no change in their unemployment rates, while story, Hardin and Jasper county all experienced increases of two-tenths of one percent.
