A tragic example of being careful around ponds and lakes right now from over the weekend.

A 21-year-old man drowned in a Cedar Rapids pond last night as he and two teens fell through the ice at Mohawk Park. The 14-year-old and the 17-year-old were able to get out of the pond and call for help, but it arrived too, late for the 21-year old.

The two teenagers who fell through the ice, but escaped were taken to a Cedar Rapids hospital for treatment.
