Monday the gavel will ring in the 2020 legislative session. At least initially, one of the major topics is about possible raising the state sales tax by at least three-eighths of one cent. That is a proposal that Republican Representative of Montour, Dean Fisher, says is a very thorny issue.
Fisher says there has also been talk of adding another five-eighths of a cent to make it an even penny increase that could be offset by reducing income or property taxes. We’ll see what happens beginning next week.
