You know it’s coming, you might even be dreading it, but you shouldn’t. It’s a new decade and that means the government will be taking the Census to see who lives where. To make you more comfortable with the process, a Census Partnership Meeting will be held Thursday the 30th at 5:00 pm at the Marshalltown Public Library. Marshalltown City Clerk Shari Coughenour says you will receive a postcard in the mail come March, inviting you to take part in the process.
The Census count can make a difference in how much federal funding the community may be eligible for, it will also determine redistricting, if needed, for areas such as U.S. Congressional districts, to how the City Wards are aligned in Marshalltown and other communities.
