The Iowa Veteran’s Home is one of 13 locations in the state where officials have sent the new Abbott rapid result testing machines for use. The plan is to use those machines in rural areas that may be used a hub for several communities. The next closest location to Marshalltown getting an Abbott machine is Boone.

The machines have limited testing capacity, though, until the state gets more testing supplies. That’s another reason they were placed outside of major metro areas.
