Governor Kim Reynolds insists the state’s meat packing plants are complying with the latest safety recommendations and she has no plans to intervene with an executive order that would temporarily close of them.
The governor says ALL the employees of pork plant in Columbus Junction AND at the beef plant in Tama have been tested for COVID-19.
Marshalltown Mayor Joel Greer said yesterday that 34 employees at JBS had been diagnosed with Covid-19. The director of the Marshall County Board of Health, Dr, Ken Lyons says he has been in contact with management at the Marshalltown JBS plant.
While Dr. Lyons cant’s say for sure, he adds it’s safe to assume that of 177 new cases identified over the weekend at the Tama beef packing plant, some of those diagnosed no doubt live in Marshall County.
