If you are a fan of the Farmer’s Almanac and you love winter, you may like what the  new edition being released today predicts Iowa this winter. It is forecast to be exceptionally cold winter, with above-normal snowfall. Almanac editor Peter Geiger says it is forecasting a relatively typical December for Iowa with a moderate snow event January 10th through the 13th, with even more snow in February.

Meteorologists at the National Weather Service may say it’s impossible to accurately predict the weather more than a few weeks out, but the Farmers’ Almanac routinely works two -years- ahead. Geiger says their prognosticating formula was developed by the first editor in 1818.
