The Iowa Department of Public Health has announced a change of regulations when it comes to the combination of face masks, confirmed COVID cases and quarantining. If you and someone who has COVID-19 are less than six feet apart, but you BOTH are wearing face masks, the non-COVID person no longer has to quarantine for 14 days…and that is face masks/face coverings. Marshall County Public Health Nurse Pat Thompson says that is NOT the case when it comes to face shields.
Thomspon the new rules apply to non-healthcare workers only. The reason for the change is that the state health department says it has been proven that face masks/coverings do help decrease the spread of the virus.
