HEADLINES, DECEMBER 29TH
WITH THE PROSPECT OF A MAJOR WINTER STORM ARRIVING TODAY, MARSHALLTOWN RESIDENTS ARE REMINDED THAT THE CITY’S SNOW ORDINANCE REQUIRES VEHICLES TO BE MOVED OFF DESIGNATED SNOW ROUTES, OR THEY MAY BE TOWED. THE CITO OF AMES WILL PUT ITS SNOW ORDINANCE INTO EFFECT AT NOON TODAY, AND TAMA HAS ALREADY DECLARED A SNOW EMERGENCY, WHICH WILL REMAIN IN EFFECT THROUGH NOON WEDNESDAY.
AT ITS FINAL MEETING OF 2020, THE MARSHALLTOWN CITY COUNCIL APPOINTED RAYMOND STARKS TO FILL THE UNEXPIRED TERM OF COUNCILWOMAN SUE CAHILL. CAHILL WON ELECTION TO THE IOWA HOUSE IN THE NOVEMBER GENERAL ELECTION.
MARSHALLTOWN COMMUNITY THEATER HAS RECEIVED A $2,500 GRANT FROM THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS. ORGANIZATIONS IN NEWTON, AMES, NEVADA, AND TOLEDO WERE ALSO AMNG THE OVER 260 GRANT RECIPIENTS.
