What a perfectly Lousy day yesterday was…and that was just on the roads.
One person died in a 15 vehicle pile-up on Highway 20 in Grundy County. The Grundy Register says five semis and three cars were totaled in the chain reaction. The name of the person killed has not been released.
Of course, most of you saw the vehicle carnage from the chain reaction crash on I-80 near Newton. Roughly 40 vehicles were involved in that mess. That included two Iowa State Patrol cars, which got crushed by a jack-knifing semi. The troopers, thankfully, were not in the cars.
The case of those and other crashes in the state…driving too fast for conditions…One trooper at the Newton crash said the highway was just a sheet of ice.
