Marshall County is without its top law enforcement officer…at least temporarily.

Steve Hoffman’s resignation as Sheriff went into effect at the close of business yesterday. The notification to the County came after a few weeks of back and forth after he announced he had taken a Chief’s position with the Polk County Sheriff’s Department. County Auditor Nan Benson told the Times-Republican the Board of Supervisors will meet in special session tomorrow morning to accept Hoffman;s resignation and plot a course going forward.
