A proposed housing development along South 6th Street just north of Wayward Social was debated for two reasons at last night’s Marshalltown City Council, before finally passing on a 4-3 vote . Councilor Gary Thompson was worried that with the proposed easement of the bike trail through Creekside Estates, it might be thought that the developer was being given preferential treatment. Councilor Bill Martin wanted to delete any mention of the trail, but that amendment was not approved.
The approved development agreement calls for the developer to build 16 duplexes and 22 townhomes on a new cul-de-sac. The developer is expected to close on the property, known as the Naughton property, by the end of the month.
