There’s a hole in the middle of the Hawkeye basketball team. Iowa basketball coach Fran McCaffery hopes the transfer portal will help the Hawkeyes add another big man for next season. National player of the year Luka Garza is gone and backup center Jack Nunge transferred to Xavier.

McCaffery will have plenty of names to consider. As of this week, nearly 13 hundred players were in the transfer portal and the rule giving transfers immediate eligibility has created free agency.

The only experienced center is Josh Ogendele (oh-goon-duh-lay), who appeared in eight games this past season.
