That fire in Ames on Saturday was apparently set by a man trying to draw attention to a child custody dispute.
Ames police arrested Michael McPeek and charged him with 2nd degree arson and criminal mischief in the fire that caused $75,000 in damages to the house in the 1400 block of Meadowlane Avenue.
Police say McPeek was living in the house, but did not own it.
