A morning fire yesterday in Ames led to the rescue of a dog and no injuries.

Firefighters responded to a fire in the 400 block of 12th St. around 7:15  and found a small fire in the living room of the house. Nobody was home at the time of the incident. The fire was contained to the point of origin in the living room with no extension to the rest of the house. However, there was some smoke damage in other areas. A neighbor spotted the fire through the front window of the residence and called 911.
