The Marshalltown Fire Department was called to a report of a residential structure fire within the city limits of Marshalltown early Tuesday morning.

According to a press release, at 4:40 a.m., local fire crews were notified of a structure fire in progress at a residence located at 604 8th Avenue.

Upon arrival, fire crews found a small-detached utility building and a vehicle on fire. Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control with no injuries being reported to civilians or fire service personnel. Local fire crews remained on the scene for approximately two hours.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Marshalltown Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Marshalltown Police Department and Unity Point EMS personnel.
