The Marshalltown Police Department has announced the arrest of a man on prostitution, assault, and dangerous weapon charges.

Fikiri Tundu was arrested by police Saturday evening, at which time he was formally charged with engaging in prostitution; false imprisonment; and assault while displaying dangerous weapon.

On Saturday morning, Marshalltown police arrested a man on a variety of charges after officers responded to a report of a traffic accident in the 1000 block of west Church Street. Forty-one-year-old Jose Garcia-Lopez was arrested by authorities on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol; driving with a suspended license; striking an unattended vehicle; violating the open container law; and failing to provide proof of vehicle insurance; as well as child endangerment and assault causing bodily injury.
