You can listen to each new winner at 8:30a on the Morning Kix Start.
Our February winner is 4th Grade Teacher at GMG Elementary, Quentin Moen. He was nominated by Kyle Hall. Here is what he wrote to Kix 101.1.:
Good morning!
I want to nominate Mr. Quentin Moen for the pack the backpack. Mr. Moen is a 4th grade teacher at GMG Elementary. He has previously taught before but being a 1st year/new teacher at a school has challenges in itself. Mr. Moen’s challenges were amplified by the fact that he actually took over the classroom roughly 6 weeks into the school year after another teacher left. My daughter, Brynnlee, was very nervous when she heard she was about to have her first “boy teacher” but she has loved every minute since he became her classes teacher. He is very attentive with the kids, breaks things down when they don’t understand and overall has made learning fun for my daughter and her fellow students. He is often incentivizing the kids with prizes for a job well done and I am sure this could help with those prizes or anything else he needs as he continues to get his classroom set up!
Go Wolverines!
Thank you for the consideration,
Kyle Hall

Welcome to The List,
Glen Powell's new smash hit? It's not a movie—it’s mayo. The Twisters star has gone from chasing tornadoes to chasing taste buds with his new line of organic condiments, Smash Kitchen. That’s right, Glen’s now into buns—but burger buns. Inspired by BBQs at his Texas ranch and a desire to cut the junk from your junk food, Powell’s new lineup includes spicy mayo, hot honey ketchup, and a BBQ sauce..Now available at Walmart, because nothing says "Hollywood hunk turned health nut" like squeezing your own bottles in aisle five.

The MTV VMAs are getting a glow-up—network TV style. For the first time ever, the VMAs will air on CBS, so get ready to watch outrageous outfits, twerk-heavy performances, and someone inevitably saying something that makes the censors sweat… all from the comfort of your grandma’s favorite channel. The show goes down Sept. 7 at UBS Arena in New York, streaming on Paramount+ and still simulcasting on MTV and what feels like every channel except the Weather Channel. No host or performers announced yet, but don’t worry—someone will grind on something they shouldn’t.

This summer, Thomas Rhett will cross a huge milestone off his career bucket list when he plays his first-ever stadium show at Boston’s Fenway Park, on July 19th. “I kinda feel like at some point in your career, you just have to sort of just go for it. I’ve been thinking about doing a baseball stadium since 2019. Finally, I think we just sat down and we were just like, if we’re ever gonna try it, we should try it now. He’s still got a few bucket list things on his career sheet that he wants to do.

Cody Johnson is trying to stay strong... but Texas Roadhouse rolls are his kryptonite. In a Billboard interview, the country star admitted he's ditching carbs—but those warm, cinnamon butter-slathered rolls at Texas Roadhouse? Yeah, they're testing his willpower harder than tight jeans at a county fair.“When your daughter wants Roadhouse for her birthday, and those rolls hit the table… I’m drooling,” he said. Same, Cody. Who needs abs when you’ve got buns like those?

Welcome to The List,
Will Smith is trying to make a rap comeback, but hip-hop fans aren’t exactly getting jiggy with it. A source says he’s basically a senior citizen now, and today’s rap crowd just doesn’t think he’s relevant. So, Will is testing the waters overseas before hitting the U.S. Translation? If it flops in Europe, he can just pretend it never happened. Honestly, if anyone can make “Grandpa Rap” a thing, it’s probably Will Smith.

Morgan Wallen was on Theo Von’s podcast, and things got real when they started talking about bars. Morgan admitted he hasn’t stepped foot in one since… well, the last time—and let’s just say, we all remember how that went. Now, whether that’s a personal choice or a strong legal recommendation is up for debate. But hey, at least he knows when to walk away… even if it took a few tries.

Lainey Wilson has spent her entire life working on music, but what made her really blow up? Her butt. Seriously, she went viral on TikTok because of her curves—not her chords. She says at first, she thought it was funny, but then she realized people just wouldn’t stop talking about it. Lesson learned? Never read the comments. Unless, of course, they’re all raving about your rear end—then maybe just skim them.

Details about Val Kilmer's health in his final days have been released. He was bed-bound due to a lack of energy from his cancer treatments. Val's declining health led to his body being unable to fight and him passing at age 65 after battling pneumonia. Val, known for his intense method acting techniques, filled his bed with ice while filming ’Tombstone’ to mimic the feeling of dying from tuberculosis.
