At this week’s meeting, the Poweshiek County Supervisors heard a report on current building maintenance issues involving the county Public Safety Building.

Poweshiek County Sheriff Tom Kriegel, Jail Administrator Joe Meyer, and Chief Deputy Joel Vanderleest were on hand to bring the board up to date on some of the latest maintenance concerns that need to be further addressed at the present time.

It was noted that building personnel have been having trouble with the current service provider for the heating and cooling system control unit.  It was further noted that the temperature in the building from room to room has not been consistent.

The building currently has Woodman Controls as a service provider, and building staff feel the company is not providing the types of services that are needed to function efficiently on a daily basis.

A recommendation was made to reach out to environmental control solutions as a more reliable service provider for the control portion of the heating and cooling system.  The county board further directed

Meyer, the county jail administrator, to schedule a time for a company representative to meet with the board to discuss the system.
