The Marshalltown Water Works Department will be flushing fire hydrants in town starting Monday, Mar. 21st, weather permitting.
Flushing will begin in the north part of town and proceed to the south end.
This year’s flushing program should take approximately two to three weeks to complete.
The purpose of he flushing program is to keep the water mains clean and to check all fire hydrants for proper operation.
Residents may notice temporary discoloration of their water.
Anyone who notices discoloration with their water is advised to run cold water for about five minutes, which should remove the discolored water from the pipes.
