At Tuesday’s meeting, the Marshall County Supervisors addressed ongoing pay issues involving current employees within the County Treasurer’s Office.

At a previous Supervisors meeting, County Treasurer Jarrett Heil requested that the salaries of his staff be increased with the hope of bringing them more in line with other department employees at the same grade level.

A motion was later made to set the starting hourly wage for employees in the Treasurer’s Office at $18.07 per hour, compared to the current rate of $17.05 per hour, with a six percent pay increase to be included for the five universal clerks who work in the Treasurer’s Office.

The motion failed by a 2-1 margin with supervisors’ members Dave Thompson and Bill Patten both voting against the measure.

Supervisors later approved a vacation payout of approximately $15,900 for Marshall County Conservation Director Mike Stegmann who plans to retire in the coming year with a $15,900 reduction in the IT budget being approved, as well.

A resolution was adopted by the county board establishing new voting precincts for Marshall County with minor changes being formally authorized with subsequent readings of the resolution being waived.

Supervisors also approved the hiring of Dan McCready as a new full-time jailer for the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department at a starting pay rate of $19.88 per hour.

Honorary service awards were also presented to General Assistance Director Lisa Soder, who has provided 20 years of service to the county, and County Secondary Roads employee Richard Amendt, who has provided five years of dedicated service to the department.
