During the latest meeting of the Marshalltown City Council a representative of the State Department of Transportation Tony Gustafson spoke to Council and said the D-O-T is proposing what they are calling a “Road Diet” for North Third Avenue in Marshalltown. The proposal if it comes to fruition would reduce the boulevard from four lanes to three lanes because of the volume of traffic in that locale. Council had considerable input in the matter in response to the proposal and other issues involving South Center Street, Anson Street and North Center Street. Work on the roads in Marshalltown is contingent upon funding and would take place in 2018 or 2019.
