A Senior student at Newton High School has been announced as the recipient of the 2022 Star Student Scholarship of Iowa Award.

Jaycee Shaver was nominated for the award based on her academic achievements, leadership abilities, involvement in extracurricular activities and educational goals.

Shaver is an active member of the Future Farmers of America, Future Health Professionals,  Student Council,  Girl Scouts, and is also an active volunteer with her church.

After graduation, Shaver plans to attend college to study pediatrics.  She has long had a desire to work with children, and hopes to specialize in surgery, cardiology, or neurology.

After suffering the loss of her mother at the age of eight, Shaver shares that her grandmother has had a positive impact on her life.

The Star Student Scholarship is awarded to a graduating student.  The scholarship is co-sponsored by ClaimAid Consulting Corporation and the Iowa Association of School Boards.  The scholarship is awarded based on a number of requirements, including educational goals and academic accomplishments.
