A Marshalltown man is facing sexual abuse charges involving young children, according to a Marshalltown Police Incident Report.

Twenty-two-year-old Alexander Hernandez was arrested by Marshalltown Police on Thursday , at which time he was formally charged with Second-Degree Sexual Abuse of Children Under the Age of 12, a Class B Felony, and Assault with Intent to Commit Sexual Abuse, which is an Aggravated Misdemeanor.

Police say Hernandez was being investigated by authorities for several months after information surfaced that indicated he was engaging in sexual misconduct with minors whom he was previously acquainted with.

Hernandez is currently being held without bond.
