Authorities in Jasper County are investigating an incident in which dozens of headstones were recently damaged at a rural cemetery.

Investigators say it happened last week at the Bethany Cemetery south of Sully.

According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, 43 headstones were vandalized with total damage being estimated at $1,400.
