Nevada High School agriculture students and FFA members volunteered and planted forty-seven trees at the Nevada Harrington Park on Friday, May 20th.
Two high school classes also helped with planting trees.
Species included Bald Cypress, Frontier Elm. Honey Locust, Sugar Maple, Redbud, Flowering Crab, and Black Gum.
The trees were obtained through a grant from the Iowa DNR Forestry Bureau.
Jayson Kingsbury, Nevada Parks and Rec., operated a post hole auger for providing holes, and also explained proper tree planting techniques.
The tree planting is to make up for the loss of Ash Trees due to the Emerald Ash Borer.
