Authorities in Ames say three people are confirmed dead following a shooting that occurred Thursday evening outside a local church.

The Story County Sheriff’s Office says they received multiple 9-1-1 calls about an active shooter situation shortly before 7:00 p.m.

The incident occurred at the Cornerstone Church, located near the interchange of I-35 and  Highway 30 on the east edge of the Ames city limits.

Two people and the male shooter were all pronounced dead.

There were no other reports of injuries involving the incident, according to the sheriff’s office.
