Representatives from the Iowa State Button Society held their annual Historic Clothing Button Show this past weekend at the Best Western Regency Inn in Marshalltown. The event featured nearly 400 button lots or individual button group displays which were judged by button society members.
Although most people might be inclined to think button collecting is something that’s mainly of interest to women, that’s not necessarily the case, according to Dianne Peterson, who serves as current President of the Iowa State Button Society.
Janice Roxberg, retiring President of the Iowa State Button Society, was among those who were on hand for the organization’s annual button show event this past weekend.
The primary mission of the Iowa State Button Society is to promote the study/research, collecting and preservation of clothing buttons.
There is a $20 annual fee that’s required in order to become a member of the organization.
Interested persons can inquire about becoming a member by submitting their name, address, phone and email information to the Iowa State Button Society, 1444 200th Street, Keota, Iowa 52248.
