Auditor of State Rob Sand has released an audit report for the City of Brooklyn, Iowa.

The report reveals that the city’s receipts totaled five-point-two millions dollars for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2021.

Disbursements for the same period totaled four-point-nine million dollars.

Sand reported five findings related to the receipt and disbursement of taxpayer funds.

The findings address issues such as a lack of segregation of duties, the lack of independent review of bank reconciliations, disbursements exceeding budgeted amounts and separately maintained records.

Sand provided the city with recommendations to address each of the findings.
