The Marshalltown School Board looked at ways of developing a digital mapping system for buildings on school property as a means of better upgrading the district’s emergency management procedures should a crisis situation occur at Monday’s meeting.
The Marshalltown School District has been working in partnership with the Marshalltown Police Department to further develop a digital mapping type plan which could be utilized in the event of a crisis situation.
At Monday’s meeting the board accepted a proposal received rom Critical Response Group to perform future digital mapping services for the district, as recommended.
Superintendent Schutte also outlined a number of legislative priorities that have been set forth by the Iowa Association of School Boards and how they correspond with those being mandated by the Marshalltown Community School District.
The board also heard from Amber Danielson, Director of the Marshall County Arts and Culture Alliance regarding the new “Scherzo” art sculpture which is being installed in front of the Marshalltown Performing Art Center.
The board also authorized the purchase of a new aquatic display for the district.
A new contract was also approved by the board for the new walking path at Fisher Elementary School.
