There was a lot of discussion about what the city will do with 4 plots of land on Merle Hibbs Rd and S 6th Street. The city has applied for a HUD Community Development Block Grant to build some low income houses on those plots and the council was not all in agreement.
That was Councilman Gary Thompson who voted no on this resolution. Councilman Gabe Isom also had some thoughts.
Barry Kell shared his thoughts, reminding everyone that there have not been any blueprints made for the houses. The grants state the houses have to sell for less than $175,000.
Dex Walker quickly responded.
The resolution did fail with only councilmen Isom, Kell, and Ladehoff in support. Al Hoop didn’t comment and was the final no vote.
