GMG Elementary had the Green Mountain Fire Department come to their school after the fire alarm went off around 11:20pm Wednesday night. Smoke and an odor were coming from the art room and it was discovered the smoke and smell was coming form the pottery kiln. The fire department found combustibles close to the kiln and removed those. The fire department then used a positive pressure fan to remove the smoke from the art room, overall there was only minor cosmetic damage to the kiln. The fire department turned the building over to staff after about an hour, and classes at GMG elementary went on as scheduled Thursday.
