The Marshall County Iowa State Extension Office has been working to have free little food pantries in every community in the County. There are already 13 little food pantries around Marshall County, which are like a large mailbox. Amy Pieper, County Director, explains how they work
Amy says that those who need a little bit extra food to hold them over can stop by and take some. The partners need to have some accountability beyond just a place to put a little food box.
There are 5 little food pantries in Marshalltown and 8 in smaller communities across Marshall County. Amy says they have materials to build 5 more, they just need someone handy enough to build them, and community partners.
